The Best Convertibles for You to Enjoy a Summer Drive

With the sun beating down, the wind in your hair and the need for speed being fulfilled (within speed limits of course), driving in a convertible can be an exhilarating experience. Unfortunately, with the British weather being the way it is, we don’t get as many opportunities to let the top down as our Mediterranean friends. That being said, every now and then, the mercury reaches higher levels, and we can get out there and enjoy the road with the top down.

Today, we will look at the best convertibles that you could secure fast car finance on so you can make a summer drive all the more enjoyable.

BMW 8 Series Convertible

With BMW, you know you are investing in quality, and the 8 Series Convertible does not disappoint. With 4-wheel drive on most versions and accompanied with an 8-speed gearbox, it gives drivers serious options. All the models come with leather, heated seats and two-zone climate control. Other features can also be added to give the car even more bang for its buck. The diesel version (the 850d) provides great fuel economy and could give you up to 600 miles between fill ups. All models come equipped with a variety of safety features, including automatic emergency braking and blind spot warnings.

Also available in sports editions, this convertible is a premium vehicle, but when compared to its competitors in this market, it comes in at a great price.

Expect to pay around £70,000 for a brand-new car of the higher spec model. A used vehicle could come in at around £16,000.

Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet

In our opinion, the VW T-Roc Cabriolet is a great-looking car. Available in 2 trims, one more sporty than the other, this VW provides a fuel-efficient drive-in, whichever edition you choose. Looking sleek with the roof up or down, this SUV can be used as a family car or one for those simply seeking a pleasurable drive. It can be a little tight seating people in the rear seats, so take this into account when considering one. Technology-wise, it provides Bluetooth and USB connectivity in the design edition, whilst the R-line incorporates a 10.25-inch digital driver display.

A brand-new T-Roc could set you back around £30,000, with a used model available for around £16,000.

Audi A5 Cabriolet

A classy-looking soft top, the Audi A5 could easily be the one to have you cruising the coastline when the sun is out. A luxurious interior and well equipped with decent technology and driver features, the car comes in both petrol and diesel engines. It can be a little expensive to run when compared to others of a similar type, so this is always worth considering. Audi has incorporated a mild hybrid technology to the engines, resulting in fewer emissions and better performance. Whether you choose diesel or the 261 bhp petrol version, you will find 4-wheel drive is equipped. All other editions come with front-wheel drive only.

A brand-new Audi A5 could cost you around £43,000, with the used model setting you back anything upwards of £8,000.

Fiat 500 Cabriolet

The first all-electric car to feature on our list, this one stands out on the road, if only because of the signature rose gold colour it is available in.

Its 42 kWh battery means that if charged via a powerful enough charger, you could be getting your car from 0%-80% battery power in just 35 minutes.

It provides quick acceleration and is a great choice for city driving, but thanks to the capacity of the battery, you could also hop onto the motorway to get from A to B without fear of the power unit running out. The Icon trim would probably be the best option to deliver the best value. Factor in the infotainment, the alloy wheels and the keyless entry and for its price, you get a great value vehicle. With the car in high demand, the resell value is also likely to remain high.

You can get a new model for around £18,000 with a used model around the £15,000 mark.

Lexus LC Convertible

Our final entry brings a touch of class, and with Lexus, you’d expect nothing less. This model isn’t just about looks, though. A huge 5 litre engine provides a serious kick, so those summer drives will be both rapid and stylish.

20 inch alloy wheels, 10-speed automatic gearbox, 12 speaker sound-system, heated and cooled leather seats, adaptive suspension… Need we go on? There is so much factored into this car that we think we have saved the best until last. It does come at a cost, though, with a new model costing close to £100,000.

One feature with a particular wow-factor is that for an engine of this size, the car is relatively quiet. If you like to put your foot down, the fuel efficiency won’t be optimal, but if cruising the coast, you can achieve a considerable fuel consumption.
